Fraser is a little tiny town that is just North of Winter Park so it wasn't a long drive to get there, however the traffic going West on I-70 was insane earlier in the day so we didn't even leave Parker until nearly 3 pm. We planned it perfectly because we only had one time that we had to slow down for traffic so it only took us about 2 hours to get there. We had originally thought that we would go moose "hunting" on the way but with all the traffic we knew that if we went midday we probably wouldn't see any anyway. Linda and Rich went up earlier in the day and they didn't see any either but they got caught in traffic and it took them nearly 5 hours to get to Fraser!
We met Linda and Rich in Fraser but since they had already scoped out the town before we got there they wanted to go to Tabernash Tavern (which is in another little town just north of Fraser) for drinks and nibbles before we went to the rodeo.

The rodeo arena was great. It's nestled up in the mountains and had a great view of the surrounding area. They had a place that you could buy beer and BBQ from but they also let people bring in their own food if they wanted to. They had a large covered barn with picnic tables set up for people to eat at plus a pretty big outdoor picnic area too. They had several play areas for the kids to play in (monkey bars, sandboxes, and swing sets) and they had plenty of covered seats for everyone.
This was an amateur rodeo so there were some events that either had only one contestant or none at all but they filled the evening with events and other activities for the kids to participate in. All in all it was a fun evening under the stars and in the cool mountain air!
