Buena Vista

Now that the weather is getting better -no snow or rain this past week and highs in the upper 60's and lower 70's -we have been getting the itch to get outside and explore.  This past weekend we made a day trip to Buena Vista.  We had a two-fold reason to go; first we met a friend of Mark's there to hand off some old track and field files and secondly we wanted to see what accommodations are there because we are going to go whitewater rafting from Buena Vista sometime this summer.

This is a VERY busy little town- there must be 15 or more Outfitters for rafting and at least 20 fly fishing outfitters located there.  Plus it is on the road to Leadville (which is another day trip destination for us) and apparently there is a small ski resort there called Ski Copper.  Of course it is Spring Break and maybe that accounts for how busy this town is.

We will have to say, Buena Vista is really appropriately named. It's located in a valley that nestles the Collegiate Peaks (Mt. Princeton, Mt. Yale, Mt. Harvard) and it is a stunning setting.  We are looking forward coming back in the summer for our rafting trip!
